Here are a few examples of projects that our creative team was proud to develop.
Fire Alarm Technician Certification Course / Life Safety Electronics
CLIENT: George Brown College & CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association)
GOAL: To produce a certification level course in Electronics for Life Safety Systems. Shadowbox Learning Services provided the end-to-end production in partnership with George Brown College and the Canadian Fire Alarm Association.
PROJECT: The Shadowbox production team worked with two subject matter experts supplied by the CFAA and GBC. Dr. Eduard Loizki and David Sylvester CFAA-VP, M.E. collaborated to author Course 4: Life Safety System Electronics.
RESULT: An engaging three session 40 hr. credit course covering Analog, Digital and Applied Electronics in a media rich interactive online course.
Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
CLIENT: Mohawk College Enterprise & CCAA (Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace)
• 17 Custom eLearning Courses for Maintenance and Manufacturing
• English Language & French Language Versions
GOAL: Work with an aviation expert to produce an online course on Canadian Aviation Regulations for the Maintenance & Manufacturing Sectors in Canada. The original scope called for three course versions with production in English and French.
PROJECT: In consultation with the SME, Shadowbox determined that the sector would be better serviced if course versions could be created aligned to meet the unique needs of groups within the defined audiences. As a result 17 versions of the CARs course were developed by mapping the master content manifest to draw content that was relevant to the job needs of each audience.
RESULT: This innovative solution helps ensure that students receive content that is beneficial to their current role in industry and not apply a one size fits all approach to content. Individual roles from technicians to engineers receive the information needed and not extraneous material. In the dry, in-depth world of regulatory information that variance is appreciated by the individual end users.
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
CLIENT: ITS (Industrial Training Solutions) & Shadowbox Learning Services
GOAL: Work with Health & Safety specialists at Industrial Training Solutions to create an online version of their WHMIS instructor-led course.
PROJECT: An instructional designer worked with the ITS instructor to help stylize the course and engage an online audience.
RESULT: A course that reinforced the core lessons of working with controlled substances combined with enough depth for supervisor personnel. The first course in this partnership was released in December 2013 to rave reviews from both ITS and Mohawk College faculty.
